Welcome to STAR WARS:Knights of the Old Republic RP, an au Old Republic era based board set three years after the events of the kotor game, approximately 3953 BBY. Feel free to look around and say hello. We are accepting both originals and canons.
HEAD OF STATE: Mandalore the Preserver LEADERS: Mandalore SECONDARY LEADERS: Clan Leaders
Originally, the Mandalorian clans were Taung from Coruscant, led by the warlord "Mandalore the First". Around 24,000 BBY they conquered a planet in the Outer Rim, which they named Mandalore after their leader. The Taung then took the name Mandalorians and were seen by many as the most skilled fighters in the galaxy, thriving in battle. They were known for their use of cutting-edge weaponry and held to a strict code of honor. These Mandalorians wore crusader armor that differed from one soldier to the next.
The Neo-Crusaders were an assortion of many different races led by Mandalore the Ultimate and started the Mandalorian Wars. During this time, the Mandalorians would cause chaos upon the Republic, committing atrocities such as wiping out most of the Cathar race, and reducing the surface of the planet Serroco to glass with nuclear bombs. The Mandalorians' victory seemed assured, until the Jedi Knights Revan and Malak led a large portion of the Jedi Order to war, no longer able to sit back and watch the Republic crumble under the Mandalorians vicious attacks. The Mandalorians were then slowly but surely pushed back to the Outer Rim, where Revan lured them to Malachor V. Revan personally killed Mandalore the Ultimate in close combat, and utterly destroyed the Mandalorian Fleet, along with a large part of the Republic's as well.
After their defeat in the Mandalorian Wars at the hands of the Jedi Revan and Malak, the Mandalorians went into a long decline. Revan destroyed their stockpiles of weaponry and battle droids, and exiled the clans into the Outer Rim. One group settled on Tatooine, but apparently lost contact with other Mandalorians over time.
With the Mand'alor's mask now back in Mandalorian hands, Canderous Ordo became the new Mand'alor, taking the name "Mandalore the Preserver". During his quest to reunite the clans, Ordo came upon what may have been one of the last remaining Taung in the galaxy. This Taung, already dying when Ordo found him, claimed that Mandalore the Ultimate had usurped the title of Mand'alor with Sith assistance, and that he was the true heir of Mandalore the Indomitable. Before succumbing to death, this Taung warrior consigned his armor and clan to Ordo, asking that he carry on their traditions; Ordo wore the armor as his own and incorporated the mask of Mand'alor into the Taung's helmet. As Mand'alor, Ordo summoned the Mandalorians to the old Neo-Crusader outpost on Dxun, intent on rebuilding their forces there under the banner of Clan Ordo.
Organization of the Mandalorian Clans
Mandalorians placed little importance on birthplace or citizenship, and so had no official "state" as understood by galactic politics. Mandalorian society was a classical meritocracy, where rank and status meant nothing in comparison to a being's actions and achievements. Mandalorian clans were led by chieftains—usually senior members of the clans chosen for their wisdom—and the loose affiliation and cooperation between them was the closest the Mandalorians had to a standard government; the clans and their chieftains were all subordinate to the Mand'alor, the one individual recognized as sole ruler of the Mandalorians and the nearest Mandalorian parallel for a proper head-of-state. In keeping with their aversion to a centralized government, Mandalorians also had no palaces or offices for their leaders to occupy, and most business on Mandalore was conducted at the Oyu'baat tapcafe in Keldabe, usually over drinks.
Mandalore was the fifth planet in the Mandalore system of the Outer Rim Territories, not far from the Hydian Way trade route. The homeworld of the multi-species cultural group known as the Mandalorians, the planet was known as Manda'yaim in the Mandalorian language, and was named after the legendary conqueror of the vibrant world, Mandalore the First. The world was blanketed in lush veshok tree forests, dense jungle, sprawling hills and grassland well suited to farming, inhospitable deserts of white sand, and numerous rivers, lakes, and seas. It was also the only known world in the galaxy, with the exception of its moon Concordia, to possess the unique, nearly indestructible iron ore known as beskar.
Concordia was one of two moons orbiting the Outer Rim world of Mandalore. A verdant moon possessing dense forests, the Mandalorians settled Concordia as an agricultural colony. However, during the time of war, the Mandalorians established a vast number of mining camps on the moon in search of beskar iron, a nearly indestructible metal unique to Mandalore and its moon. The Concordian mines were a series of mines constructed on Mandalore's moon, Concordia. Used by the Mandalorians to mine for ore deposits of the nearly indestructible beskar iron, the sheer scope of the operation and the vast number of mining facilities took a toll on Concordia's natural forests, nearly destroying them.
Dxun, also known as the Demon Moon, was the largest of four moons that orbited the Inner Rim world of Onderon. Like its parent planet, it was covered almost entirely by dense jungles that were populated by many species of fierce, predatory animals. Despite being temperate and habitable, the jungles of Dxun posed major challenges for its inhabitants. In 3956 BBY, Canderous Ordo took the title of Mandalore and gathered a handful of Mandalorians, most of whom were mercenaries at the time, on the Dxun moon, in the rebuilt headquarters of the old Mandalore. The Concord Dawn system was located within the Mandalore sector of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories. Contained within the star system was the planet Concord Dawn. The star system, along with the surrounding sector, came under the control of the Mandalorians following their expansive conquest of the sector during their time as Mandalorian Crusaders. Concord Dawn was an agricultural frontier world in the Mandalore sector of the Outer Rim Territories. The planet had strong ties to the Mandalorians; its population shared many Mandalorian values, and genetic markers specific to the natives of Concord Dawn were present throughout the Mandalorian populace.
In Character Play By: Stephen Lang Canderous Ordo, later known as Mandalore the Preserver, was a Mandalorian bounty hunter in the Ordo clan. He fought in the Mandalorian Wars from 323 BTC to 307 BTC. While serving the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders, Ordo fought in many battles with his bold tactics, earning significant glory and prestige with his bold tactics and leadership. Following the Jedi Civil War, Ordo would go on to reclaim the mask of Mandalore with Revan's help and became the second leader of the Mandalorians since their defeat in the Mandalorian Wars. He would take on the title of Mandalore the Preserver, making Dxun his base of operations.
Position: Field Marshal
In Character Play By: William Hurt Bralor was a Human male Mandalorian Field Marshal and the champion of the Battle Circle at the Mandalorian base on Dxun following the Jedi Civil War. Although Bralor was an excellent fighter and champion of the Battle Circle, he was easily defeated in a duel with Meetra Surik. However, he considered this an honor, having seen the Jedi's prowess during the Mandalorian Wars, especially their victory at the Battle of Malachor V. At the battle, he had boarded a Republic cruiser and personally dueled a Jedi and although he lost, he was spared for his courage.
In Character Play By: Andy Whitfield Kelborn was discovered by Mandalore the Preserver while working as a scout for the Duros on frontier worlds. He was one of the greatest warriors of the clan, and Meetra Surik sought to prove herself to the Mandalorians by battling Kelborn in the Battle Circle after helping him kill Onderon Scouts - during her first trip to onderon (c. 3951). As the second in command of the reunited Mandalorian forces, he answered to no one except for Mandalore himself. Kelborn wore the red Mandalorian Sergeant Armor.
In Character Play By: Tahmoh Penikett Kex was a male Mandalorian warrior who worked as a quartermaster of the Mandalorian camp on Dxun after the Jedi Civil War. Prior to joining the camp, he was found by Mandalore the Preserver while working as muscle for Hutts on Nar Shaddaa. Though he sold and bought items to and from Meetra Surik, he had an extreme dislike toward the Jedi, partly because Surik was a Jedi and an outsider and partially because he had lost to Surik in the Battle Circle.
Position: Tech Specialist
In Character Play By: Aaron Johnson Zuka was the tech specialist for the re-established Mandalorian camp on Dxun and preferred fixing things for combat (a somewhat un-Mandalorian attitude—though it could be said that he was "fighting" the jungle's attempts to "retake" the camp), but he was nonetheless valued by Mandalore the Preserver for his technical skills. During Meetra Surik's visit to the camp Zuka was the first to discover the infiltrating Sith assassins, setting a trap for one of them and causing the Sith to be caught in an explosion as he decloaked to attack Zuka.
